Iola Baumgartner Award

Iola is remembered by her daughter, Nikki …

“Iola Baumgartner was a long-time resident of the Beaches and a volunteer for Achilles. Having participated in many races in the Beaches and Ashbridge’s Bay, Iola made a perfect guide for along the boardwalk. When not away travelling or visiting family, she could always be counted on, even in inclement weather! Not only was she a reliable guide, she was also a good friend to many. This award goes to the Best Volunteer for their unwavering commitment to the Achilles club and athletes.”

Remembering Iola at Beaches Memorial - August 3, 2022

A small group event organized by Lisa, President of Achilles International Canada

Thank you for everyone who celebrated Iola’s life by planting and attending to her tree garden, sharing fond memories and remembering a wonderful guide and volunteer.

Like the soft scent of the planted lavender and the sound of the wind chimes in the tree, Iola left a footprint and forever remains in our hearts for her kindred spirit, selflessness, strength and infectious smile.
